Tim Burgess is to play an online festival in aid of the mental health charity set up in memory of Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison.
The two day event in June, to be streamed live on Facebook, will go towards Tiny Changes, as well as other children’s charities affected by the current coronavirus pandemic.
As well as The Charlatans frontman – who is now equally known for his daily album listening parties on Twitter – acts appearing from lockdown on June 20th and 21st will include Frank Turner, Broken Chanter, Carla Easton, Heir of the Cursed, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
And also appearing from their own homes for the ‘Tiny Gigs’ festival will be Bill Ryder Jones, Man of Moon, Cloth, and Loel Campbell.
Scott Hutchison took his own life just over two years ago after a long struggle with his mental health. Tiny Changes was established last year by members of his family to help improve mental health among young people.
Grant Hutchison, Scott’s brother and drummer in Frightened Rabbit, and also a trustee of the charity, said: “At a time when so many of us might be feeling disconnected and isolated from the world, let’s all get together in a virtual field and enjoy some togetherness with a bunch of amazing musicians.
“Instead of feeling like we’re missing out on seeing friends, going to gigs and singing along together, let’s make the most of being able to sit and watch a music festival from our own couch in our pants.
“What started as a wee idea after seeing a bunch of artists perform for folk online has been turned into a reality by a few wonderful folk at Tiny Changes.
“Join in, sing along and at the end of the night you don’t need to fumble around in the dark looking for your tent – you can go to your own bed!”
‘Attendance’ will be on a pay-what-you-want with the Tiny Changes page always open for donations at www.justgiving.com/tinychangessco.
And tying in with the fundraiser, Glasgow Bar Bloc+ has released the first of a series of tracks in aid of Tiny Changes – recorded in stages before lockdown, The Modern Leper Choir features members of Dead Or American, Bridal Shower, Acid Cannibals and Outblinker amongst others. ‘Alpha’ and ‘Beta’ can be downloaded below.
