On the radio from Monday June 1st… actually, there’s very little actual live radio with live music on it…
web
Spare Snare‘s regular weekly Twitter #sparesnarelisteningparty features the band’s second album, 1996’s ‘Westfield Lane‘. This one was originally a solo effort from singer Jan Burnett, so hopefully he’ll be online from 8pm.
Despite Marc Riley recording his 6music shows weeks in advance the BBC website is still incapable of letting us know in advance what’s on them, but fortunately you can listen again to last week’s episodes – including archive sessions from Edwyn Collins and The Sexual Objects.
Adam Stafford has provided us another couple of radio shows – as a way to “sooth your Dominic Cumberwank rage”… Episode 3 – a vinyl special – and Episode 4 of Blood on The Stylus are online now.
And to the web proper – on Wednesday 3rd, from 10pm, #TimsTwitterListeningParty sees Tim Burgess and perhaps Dumbarton-born vocalist David Byrne take a stroll through Talking Heads‘ 1978 classic ‘More Songs About Buildings and Food’.
Quite a few (even more) Scottish acts featured this week – on Friday 5th, at 8pm, it’s The Pastels‘ 2013 album ‘Slow Summits’.
Then on Saturday 6th, Camera Obscura‘s ‘Let’s Get Out Of This Country’, and a couple of Sunday night:
from 6pm, the brand-new long-player ‘Mercurial’ by Elisabeth Elektra
Then at 8pm on Sunday, BMX Bandits and their 2006 album ‘My Chain’
And finally (for this week), Sunday 7th from 10pm Mogwai will be along to dissect ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’.
And finally (er…)
Fife duo The Twistettes were the stars of a recent episode of You Call That Radio – an odd radio/TV/online hybrid – we can’t really tell them apart any more.
