Zed Penguin release their debut album ‘A Ghost, A Beast’, on the Song, by Toad label.

The four-piece are the brainchild of Aussie ex-pat Matthew Winter, who started making four-terack recordings following his arrival in Edinburgh more than ten years ago, placing them on Myspace under the Zed Penguin monicker.

By 2012, the project had become an actual band, a four-piece including a Japanese composer Atzi Muramatso on cello, bassist James Metcalfe out of The Pineapple Chunks, and Casey Miller (STONES) on drums.

That year the band recorded two tracks for the Song, By Toad Split 12” Vol.2.

The new release was recorded over a four-year period, in an analogue studio run by Winter’s friend Doug MacDonald.

The nine-track album – available as a download as well as on 12″ vinyl – includes first single ‘Wandering’ as well as the right-minute title track.
