Karine Polwart releases her new album ‘A Pocket Of Wind Resistance’.

It’s the musical companion to the five-time BBC Folk Award winner’s debut theatre production ‘Wind Resistance’, which opened at last year’s Edinburgh International Festival.

Inspired by the thousands of geese which migrate to Fala Flow, a small peat bog close to Polwart’s home near Edinburgh, the album documents her observation of how the birds take turns to create pockets of wind resistance to aid each other’s flight, and relates this to how humans depend on each other.

The album, and the theatre production, blend spoken word with the singer’s music for the first time, and feature contributions from sound designer Pippa Murphy.
