Fortunately there were no gigs in the first half of the week, and things kick off tonight, Thursday.

The big ticket show is the Jesus and Mary Chain at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange, where the East Kilbride veterans relive ‘Psychocandy’.

In Glasgow on Thursday, the first SoundsintheSuburbs show of the year at the Woodend Bowling Club, with some home-grown miserablism from Dumb Instrument plus Les Johnson and Me.

Elsewhere in the big city on Thursday, former Superfurryanimal Gruff Rhys is at the Art School, while British Sea Power play the O2 ABC.

Pick of the gigs on Friday is for those of you who live in Dingwall – Kris Drever plays the Resolis Community Hall.

Onto Saturday, and around and about – in Dundee, The Mirror Trap are at Buskers with Rush Hour Soul and Luna Webster in tow. Meanwhile, in Glasgow, at Audio, former Goodbye Mr Mackenzie frontman Martin Metcalfe plays Audio.

And A New International launch new album (their debut under their new name following previously doing time as The Starlets). ‘Come To The Fabulon’ gets a hometown showcase at Cumbernauld’s AM Rehearsal Rooms. (see video for single ‘Valentino’, below).

In Aberdeen on Sunday 22nd, Paisley possible post-punks Carnivores are Downstairs. Also on Sunday, at Glasgow’s Broadcast, Man Without Country perform for your delight, alongside favourites of ours, Miracle Strip.
