George Gallacher, the original vocalist with Scottish 60s psychedelic pop band The Poets, has died.

The band, who were managed and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham, released several singles on his label, and although they only minor chart success in the early 1960s, were regarded as the best band to come out of Scotland during this period, and influenced many acts who came after them.

Gallacher and fellow original member Fraser Watson reformed the band last year and at the time recorded a BBC Scotland radio session which is still available to hear at the time of writing.
