Jazzateers release a new single, ‘Pressing On’, via The Creeping Bent Organisation.

Taken from their lost ‘Blood Is Sweeter Than Honey‘ album – finally issued late last year – the track is available as a download.

The band – were initially part of Postcard Records’ heyday in the early 1980s, being managed by label boss Alan Horne and having their debut (unreleased) Postcard single ‘Wasted’ produced by Edwyn Collins.

Postcard groups Aztec Camera, The Go Betweens, and Jazzateers signed to Rough Trade when Postcard ceased trading. A Horne-produced debut long-player ‘Lee’ also remains unreleased, with Jazzateers’ eponymously titled album eventually being released in 1983.

The band then transformed into Bourgie Bourgie, signing a deal with major label MCA, but despite a couple of minor chart hits with singles ‘Breaking Point’ and ‘Careless’, the album they recorded was also unreleased, the band splitting up soon afterwards.

Original members including core members Ian Burgoyne and Keith Band perform on the single and current album, with vocals being supplied by a variety of singers including Alison Gourlay, the Rutkowski Sisters, Hipsway’s Grahame Skinner, as well as Paul Quinn.
