A bit of a megaroundup so truly gigS of the week. If we find time we’ll try and make this a more comprehensive regular feature.

Firstly, Y’All Is Fantasy Island – Falkirk’s finest current act – play their last ever show at Edinburgh Sneaky Pete’s on Friday. so I’m not sure who will be Falkirk’s finest after that, but it’ll be a hard act to follow…

Glasgow act Twisted Melons resurface after a few years being off our radar, with a show at Glasgow’s Nice ‘n’ Sleazy on Saturday 12th.

Same night, in Edinburgh at the Cabaret Voltaire, Plastic Animals appear with Vendor Defender and Cancel the Astronauts. Good value-for-money trio of acts, I’d venture.

Then, Vic Godard and the Subway Sect emerge from the ashes of punk rock 30 years on – well, kind of. They tour Scotland, in the sense that they play Edinburgh on Sat 12th (Citrus Club) with The Sexual Objects, at Glasgow Accies Club on the Saturday, and then and Dexters in Dundee on Sunday (with Spectorbullets, plus Edinburgh School For the Deaf which features ex-members of St Jude’s Infirmary. I think that’s about as big a Scottish tour as we’re likely to get from anyone!

(Oh, on Saturday following the Citrus Club show, there’s an afterparty at Henry’s with Monica and the Explosion, Spectorbullets and a quick appearance from Vic).

On that tack, Primal Scream have invited Sexual Objects to open up their Screamedelica tourdates at Newcastle O2 on Wednesday 16th and at the SECC on Friday 18th – meaning that Davy Henderson will be playing in front of the size of audience that he always should have been!

And finally – at Glasgow King Tut’s on Sunday, upcoming singer-songwriter Kevin McGuire plays – highly recommended by some who know at is this music? so who are we to argue?
