Wojtek The Bear release a new single, ‘Tonic Youth’, as a download on Scottish Fiction.

The first new material since the band’s debut album, ‘A Talent For Being Unreasonable’,
the new single is the first of four planned by the band in 2019, to be collected on a limited edition 10” vinyl EP, ‘Old Names For New Shapes’, in the autumn.

Of the track, recorded at Chem 19 with producer Jamie Savage, lead singer Tam Killean said: “When I first moved into Glasgow in my early 20s I quickly encountered people at parties I’d never been exposed to before; kids who’d never worked a day in their life, spent their summers in Val-d’Isére or Biarritz and all seemed to have fucking ponies.

“This song is about how initially on coming into contact with them I had a bit of a crisis of confidence, thinking that I’d wasted my life by just getting absolutely smashed from the age of 15 onwards.”

The band’s next Scottish show is on Saturday 6th July at The Tooth & Claw, Inverness followed by a set on Friday 19th July at MacArts in Galashiels.

The single is available on Spotify as well as at bandcamp, where it is free with pre-orders for the 10″ EP.
