It’s well and truly festival season, and things kick off with a three-dayer, near Stirling. Doune the Rabbit Hole – at Doune, see? – features a diverse lineup with The Vaselines, BMX Bandits, Mike Heron (of Incredible String Band fame), Polar Bear … among the headline acts, as well as some of our personal favourites including How To Swim, Trembling Bells, Zoey Van Goey, Frog Pocket, GRNR, Tango in the Attic, Punch & The Apostles and RM Hubbert among 80 or so other acts on the bill .
There’s also a variety of other stuff as they encourage us to ‘Burrow Deeper’: an Existential Pub Quiz; James Yorkston reading from his book, It’s Lovely To Be Here, and stand-up from Scottish comics Parrot, Keir McAllister, Ross Main and Vladimir McTavish. More at www.dounetherabbithole.co.uk

A more conventional gig – Japanese instrumental noise-rockers Mono play Glasgow’s Arches on Friday 10th. Hear them first, at www.myspace.com/monojp
