United Wire release a new album, ‘Blue Rope’ via Three Star Music.

The band is the brainchild of Roy W Taylor (aka Ross Taylor), former singer-songwriter, guitarist and co-vocalist of Edinburgh/Lothians combo Dropkick.

‘Blue Rope’ is the band’s second full-length studio release – following the band’s self-titled debut release in 2011/2012. The gap between releases is explained by Taylor’s decision to rejoin his former band Dropkick until 2015.

The new release is seen by its creator as a significant departure from his time with Dropkick, a more introspective set of songs harking back to his time growing up in rural West Aberdeenshire and musically redolent of his earlier time in alt-country band The Sundowns.

The album’s 11 tunes were recorded in Edinburgh’s Inch House studios – which has seen many bands use its facilities over the years, perhaps most notably Goodbye Mr Mackenzie including Shirley Manson (of Garbage fame).

Former bandmate Andrew Taylor contributes drums and vocals to the release, and also present on the new album is pedal steel guitarist Tim Davidson, formerly of Attic Lights.

The album is available via CDbaby and Spotify
