Uncle Kid releases a new single, ‘Supermarket Sweep’.

It’s the first track to come from an upcoming EP ‘Indistinct Chatter’ – although it’s almost time to revisit the Edinburgh-based musician’s festive tune ‘Christmas Eve in the Cuckoo’s Nest‘, from last year.

The Borders-born musician – Craig Nicolson, formerly guitarist in The Last September – describes his songs as having “poetic lyrics (which) allude to mental health struggles, often in everyday situations”.

The new track expands on this general theme – and the “anxiety of living through the pandemic, and the politics vs nature climate surrounding it.”

Tom Robinson, at BBC 6 Music, has described the track as “A song for our times”.
