London four-piece Tugboat Captain release a new single, ‘Day To Day’, on Glasgow-based label Double A-Side Records.

It’s the second track to be taken from their debut studio album for the label, ‘Rut’, due out on October 16th.

The single is currently available to stream, with the album ‘Rut’ available to pre-order now.

You can also hear the aptly titled teaser track ‘No Plans (For This Year)‘.

The band describe ‘Day To Day’ as a “dry and fatalistic anthem for Gen-Z apathy, addressing the reduced-to-clear section of the supermarket and the impossibility of getting on the property ladder.”

Like the forthcoming 11-track long-player, the new single was produced by David Dargahi (of The Postelles), and mixed and engineered by Luke Glazewski with Mia Bradley and Marta Maria Di Nozzi, before being mastered by Bob Cooper.

The band – lyricist Alexander Sokolow, Joshua Cobb, Buddy Caderni, and Georgia Mancey – recorded their laters material at Recorded at Abbey Road Institute and Ingelow Road Studios. On the album they were joined by seven additional vocalists, an 11-piece choir, plus 13 additional musicians contributing strings, woodwind, brass and percussion.

The accompanying music video, below, comprises footage from across last year’s 18-date UK tour where the band previewed much of the material on the new record.
