Following a successful Edinburgh festival run, Tinderbox Orchestra release a new single, ‘Talking About Birds’.

Every Sunday throughout August Tinderbox were joined by a rotating cast of special guests – including S!nk, Brave Little Note, and Dawanggang. The final performance, and the new single, featured a collaboration with that act’s vocalist, avant-garde Chinese rock star, Song Yuzhe.

A 16-minute track in two parts, the recording also features over 100 musicians and singers aged 12 to 80 plus a 20-strong orchestra from the Tinderbox Collective, a collective which promotes young Scottish musicians as well as helping people grow in confidence through music.

‘Talking About Birds’ follows the release of Tinderbox Orchestra’s debut album in 2017. Since then the ensemble have received considerable airplay and reviews, played to Latitude, Doune the Rabbit Hole and Hidden Door festivals, and collaborated with Scottish Album of the Year Award Winner Kathryn Joseph for special shows in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Tinderbox have run workshops with thousands of children & young people, gathered an international cast of professional collaborators, produced a variety of award-winning and experimental productions, and transformed preconceptions of what an orchestra can be.
