The Twistettes get geared up for the General Election with a new single, ‘Tory Cunts’, via Traffic Cone Records.
‘
The track is the first single to be taken from the duo’s upcoming third studio album, due out next year. Like the single itself, the as-yet-untitled long-player has been recorded and produced at Rosyth’s Substation Studio by Michael Brennan – who has worked with the likes of Jesus and Mary Chain, Elastica, Super Furry Animals, Mogwai, Primal Scream and many more.
Described by the band – sisters Jo and Nicky Darc – as a “spade in the face” message calling for “a change to our broken system”, they describe how it was written through tears of frustration and anger on the eve of the last election.
The pair have previously put out two studio albums – their 2016 debut ‘Jilt the Jive was followed by ‘A Strange Play’, released in 2018 on the back of a trip to Asia, while a third release, ‘Live at Capture Works’, was put out during lockdown in 2020.
The track is available to stream via the usual services – more at linktr.ee/thetwistettes
