A slightly, er, slight gig guide for this week, owing to lack of time rather than a lack of shows…

firstly, a Celtic Connections show for you – Hapton Crags, who are currently working on their debut album, Avonsong Vol. 1, play Glasgow’s Mitchell Theatre on Thursday 24th as guests of Mike Heron & the Trembling Bells. Unfortunately I’ve deleted the original info, but I think Hapton Crags are affiliated to Creeping Bent in some way, while any fule know that Mike Heron is a former member of The Incredible String Band, while Trembling Bells include members of Lucky Luke, among others. So a worthwhile show in other words.

The Pictish Trail
celebrates the release of his second long-player with a local(ish) show – local to Fife anyway, less so to Eigg. Anyway, he’s at Kirkcaldy’s Adam Smith Theatre on Saturday, along with Adam Ross and eagleowl, and Aberdeen’s Tunnels on Saturday.
On Saturday 26th, several bloggers – three, I think – take over the 13th Note in Glasgow for Scottish Fiction Presents: Aye Tunes vs. Peenko.
Edinburgh five-piece Plastic Animalsand another edinburgh act in King Post Kitsch join locally-based fivesome The Yawns. This is actually 2/3 of the lineup from last Sunday’s gig at Henry’s in Edinburgh and on that basis I would recommend this one heartily.

And on Sunday 26th, Meursault singer Neil Pennycook joins a lineup with The Last Battle and Book Group (formerly The Bad Book) will play a fundraiser gig for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation at the Wee Red Bar in Edinburgh on January 26. Tickets, priced £5, are available in advance.
