The Pastels and Sonic Youth have teamed up for a split 7″ single featuring their own takes on two classic tracks from seminal proto-punk act the New York Dolls.
‘…Play The New York Dolls’ comes via the Glass Modern label on 7″ purple vinyl, and features, on one side, The Pastels’ version of the Dolls’ ‘Lonely Planet Boy’, which was originally on their 1987 12″ single ‘Comin’ Through’.
The Sonic Youth track is their take on ‘Personality Crisis’ with Kim Gordon on lead vocals, originally a promo which came with Sassy Magazine, and which can now be found on the expanded version of 1992’s ‘Dirty’.
The single can still be purchased from Monorail, the Glasgow record shop co-owned by Stephen Pastel.
