The Muldoons a cover of the classic Bluebells track ‘Cath’ on Last Night From Glasgow.

It’s the first fruits of the “LNFG does The Bluebells” project – the Glasgow imprint, having recently re-released the Bluebells album ‘Sisters’ on vinyl, now charging its roster to perform covers of some of the Glasgow indie legends’ songs.

The Paisley act have taken on the re-recording of a track which was originally the third in a string of top 40 hits in 1984 following ‘I’m Falling’ and ‘Young At Heart’.

The Muldoons originally formed in the early 1990s – just when ’80s act The Bluebells would have been reforming for the first time – the five-piece outfit comprising childhood friends who grew up on “three chord post-punk and alternative music” in their hometown. After releasing a series of self-financed cassette singles, they called it a day in 1996.

The band reformed in 2018 for a supposed one-off hometown show at the Bungalow Bar, but following a support slot to Inspiral Carpet Tom Hingley, they began work on new material, with a string of singles including ‘Don’t Be Like That Girl‘, and ‘Lovely Things / Rub It In‘, leading to their Last Night From Glasgow-released long-player ‘Made for Each Other’.

The new take on ‘Cath’, with a reworked version of the original Bluebells artwork, is available now, see www.lastnightfromglasgow.com.
