A ‘Dewar House Experimental Batch’ event takes place in Edinburgh on Thurs October 24th featuring Saint Motel (USA), Meursault and Star Wheel Press at Edinburgh’s Caves – one of those sure-to-be-busy free gigs, first 300 in only.
Conquering Animal Sound play the Glad Café in Glasgow’s salubrious Shawlands on Friday 25th.
Also on Friday, The Wedding Present are at Glasgow’s ABC O2. They’re running through the Hit Parade album, which documents their record-breaking dozen top 40 hits in the space of 12 months in 1992. They’re also at the Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, on Sunday.
Saturday 26th at Stereo in Glasgow US emo types The Appleseed Cast , plus Italian noisescapers The June Miller Band and local alt rockers Verse Metrics plugging an EP ‘Radians’ due out in Decembernew Radians EP, due released on 1st December 2012..
Karine Polwart plays the Perthshire Amber festival in Pitlochry on Friday 25th, alongside Dougie Maclean. And on Sun 27th she is at Castle Menzies in Aberfeldy
Former Beta Band man Steve Mason plays Ironworks Inverness on Thrsday 24th… and then at Aberdeen Garage on Friday 25th and Edinburgh Liquid Room on Saturday 26th.
Fiona Soe Paing is at Musa in Aberdeen on Friday 26th, the same night as former Felson Dean Owens, who plays Tunnels
Fatherson have a Scottish tour at present, including shows at the Arch Inn in Ullapool on Fri 26th and at Inverness Ironworks on Saturday 27th
Warning – Slade are at Edinburgh Assembly Rooms on Saturday 26th, but only contain Dave’n’Don – sorry. And while ‘sublime to ridiculous’ might be a bit harsh on the glam rock legends, the thinking man’s Mike Oldfield i.e. Michael Nyman is at the Queen’s Hall on the same night.
And, at Edinburgh’s Kilderkin (er, sorry, google it yourself) on Saturday 26th A New International (who we will refer to as The Band Formerly Known As The Starlets, for now at least.
Finally, into next week we go, with PoP Campaign who are playing a couple of homecoming Scottish shows at Ayr’s Basement Coffee House, Ayr on Sunday 27th (and then at Glasgow’s Bloc on the 29th).
