The Method One release a new single, ‘A Life Obscene’on Swiss label Ambulance Recordings.

It follows three releases this year from the Greenock quintet including an EP from April, ‘Corners Of Your Mind‘, and their first single of 2020, ‘21st Century Fox‘ in January.

That debut EP was recorded with Joe Foster of Creation Records, whose cohort at the label, Alan McGee described the band as “The Rolling Stones jamming with The Stooges and Spiritualized”.

Singer Robert McGovern says of the new track: “Lyrically it was kind of semi biographical and also about characters I knew. It’s about living in a big city and moving in darker circles, music, sex, drugs and the people who feed into that side of ego.

“Finding a sense of freedom within a lifestyle frowned upon. Surrounded by people filling your head with what they think you want to hear. Ultimately there’s salvation by seeing through the thin veil, finding the truth and getting redemption from it all.”

Before the pandemic the The Method One had been touring with the likes of Ocean Colour Scene, Dodgy, Cast and Reni from The Stone Roses.

Initially the band – Dave Mac, Robert McGovern, Foley, Dodge, and John McLelland – formed from the ashes of Glasgow band Dresden, with the members having played in various acts, most notably guitarist McGovern, who was part of Spirea X alongside former Primal Scream man Jim Beattie.
