The Fabulous Artisans release a single, ‘Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained’, on Stereogram Recordings
The new song was recorded prior to lockdown, with the finishing touches, mix and mastering completed in July.
Originally founded in 2007 (and taking their name from a track on the final Orange Juice album), The Fabulous Artisans is a collaboration between Glasgow-based Oscar and BAFTA award winning actor, former stand-up comic and singer Neil Crossan, and Edinburgh based songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jeremy Thoms (Stereogram label boss).
Crossan takes on vocal duties for the track, which was written, produced and arranged by Thoms – also a member of Edinburgh act The Cathode Ray, who most recently released an EP ‘Love and Death‘, earlier this year.
‘Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained ‘is only fourth new track the duo have released since their debut album ‘…From Red to Blue’ came out on Swedish indie label Bendi Records in 2008 – singles ‘These Open Arms’ and ‘Belongs To You’ appeared in 2013, before ‘Mother & Child’ was contributed to ‘The Sound Of Stereogram’ compilation in 2015, coinciding with The Stereogram Revue, a live showcase of Stereogram acts.
