The Eastern Swell launch their second long-player, ‘Hand Rolled Halo’, with a show at Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms Speakeasy on Thursday November 15th. Support at the show comes from Storm The Palace and Lavinia Blackwall (of Trembling Bells).

The follow up to ‘One Day, A Flood’, which includes single ‘Down Again by Blackwaterside’, is released the following day, by Stereogram Recordings, on vinyl as well as the usual download and streaming services.

The eight songs – written by guitarist Chris Reeve and sung by Lainie Urquhart – also include an instrumental, ‘The Game’, written by Reeve along with bassist Neil Collman and drummer Andy Glover.

As with their first release, the band worked with cellist Pete Harvey (Modern Studies, King Creosote, The Leg) at his Pumpkinfield Studios in rural Perthshire, where the Modern Studies man also contributed string arrangements.

Also aiding the band on this occasion is trumpeter Al Hamilton.

The album was mastered by Reuben Taylor (James Yorkston and The Athletes, King Creosote, Storm The Palace).
