The Duke of Portland finally has his self-titled album released, as a download – almost two decades after it was made.

The alias of Arbroath-based singer-songwriter Neil Paterson, ‘The Duke’ is something of an underground legend in Scotland’s north-east. Very little recorded material has been previously available, aside from a track on the recently remastered and digitised compilation ‘We Started With Over 100 Members‘.

Paterson performed the 14 songs that make up the new release at the Bell Street flat in Dundee in 2001 with Alex Botten (of Thee Moths fame, and at that time part of Magnetic North Pole) recording them on a Roland digital 8 track.
