Sunstinger release a single, ’Nothing’s Alright, Leave Me Alone’.
The new track form the Fife-based quartet follows up previous single, May’s ‘The Void’, and is available to stream or download.
The band – Taylor Wright (vocals/guitar), Scott Gourlay (guitar), Bill Anderson (bass), and Nick Hernandez (drums) formed in late 2017.
The band consider themselves a Dunfermline act – although hailing from small villages scattered across Fife – and recorded the album at Rosyth’s Substation studio, with Magnus Collie. “We are all on the same wavelength,” they say of their relationship with the engineer of their most recent material.
Rehearsals took place at Tin Pan Alley, Leslie – known to some as “The Rat Pit”.
“I used to rehearse there when I was 16,” says vocalist Wright. “It was an abandoned building full of rats,” he adds.
The band formed in 2017, and played their first gig at Liverpool’s Sound City – members of the 4-piece having previously played in Rioteers, Tomas Bird & The Blonde Spirit, and Sergeant.
Membership of these previous acts saw Sunstinger’s members playing sets alongside Oasis and The Fratellis as well as making T In The Park and Glastonbury appearances.
Since then the foursome have worked on evolving their sound – “We’re constantly selling, swapping and buying gear to try and find new sounds,” Wright explains, “and learning all the time”.
