Snowgoose release a new single, ‘Who Will You Choose’, on Glass Modern Records.

Following lead single ‘Hope’, which came backed by a cover of Judee Sill’s ‘Lady O’, it’s the second track to be taken from the Anglo-Scottish duo’s second album ‘The Making of You’, due out June 26th as a download, CD & limited orange vinyl LP.

Snowgoose sees former Soup Dragons guitarist Jim McCulloch – who also operates under the Green Peppers moniker and who has worked with Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan) – team up with English-born vocalist Anna Sheard.

The 11-track album is the follow-up to 2012 debut, ‘Harmony Springs’ – recorded as a trio alongside Dave McGowan, who is now a full-time member of Teenage Fanclub.

McGowan, however, contributes to the new material, as do a variety of musicians including Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub) on guitar, Stevie Jones (Sound of Yell / El Hombre Trajeado) on bass/double bass, Stuart Kidd (The Wellgreen/Euros Childs/Jonny/BMX Bandits) on drums/backing vocals/percussion and Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) on keyboards.

There are also appearances from Bluebell Ken McCluskey on harmonica and Tim Davidson (who works with Camera Obscura) on lap steel, while Pearlfishers’ mainman Davie Scott is responsible for string arrangements.

“This is such a satisfying song to perform,” says Sheard of the new single. “Experimenting with and recording those harmonies at Raymond’s home studio with Jim and Stuart was a giggle and it was a delight to listen back to the track with its final sprinkling of magic.”

The album has already received praise from friends and/or critics – novelist Ian Rankin, who declared Snowgoose’s debut one of the best albums of 2012, said: “I was a huge fan of the first Snowgoose album and I’m equally excited by the follow-up. Such warmth and emotion, with great performances…”

And Del Amitri frontman Justin Currie described ‘The Making of You’ as “the kind of record that saved the easy listening genre in the early Seventies.”
