A small, but nonetheless perfectly-formed selection of live entertainment for you this week…

Starting on Wednesday night – where in Edinburgh’s Henry’s Cellar, Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, Dominic Waxing Lyrical, and Howie Reeve perform. The first listed are former Dog Faced Hermans visiting from the Netherland

On the following night but in Glasgow, Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp and Howie Reeve are joined by Sumshapes – who, despite boasting the same members as 90s hardcore heroes Dawson, are “a different band”. Apparently. That’s at the Glad Cafe, by the way.

On the east coast on Friday, former Y’all Is Fantasy Island man Robbie Lesiuk plays Mitchell’s Deli in St Andrews, while down the coast, Spook School bring top tunes and crazy-assed banter to the Teviot Underground. Meanwhile, at the Electric Circus, a band calling themselves New Dawn Fades, and who had better be a Joy Division tribute with a monicker like that.

So to Saturday, when sprightly indie duo Slow Club are at the Pleasance Theatre in Edinburgh

A choice to make on Saturday in Glasgow – How To Swim play the Glad Cafe (another top-notch show for the SOuthside of the city) while there’s an all-dayer at the 13th Note – featuring Halfrican, Saint Max and The Fanatics, Woozer, Herbert Powell, Black International, The Rockalls, Amatrart, Shamgate, Book Group, and Star Rover.

After all that, a lie-down on Sunday is surely in order.
