Seán R McLaughlin & the Wind-Up Crows release debut single ‘A Wave Breaks on My Arm’, on Stitch Records.

The Wind-Up Crows is described as the “folksy sister project” of Glasgow sextet Dante, while they are on extended hiatus following the release of sophomore album ‘I Wear Your Weight with Mine’.

Having worked regularly with Idlewild’s Rod Jones and Frightened Rabbit’s Andy Monaghan, McLaughlin has for the new project joined forces with his brother Euan McLaughlin, plus fellow Dante members Vicky Gray and Stephen Thom.

The new band are currently working on their debut LP which, given the band’s experience recording the single, could again be in the hands of producer Pete Fletcher.

“We recorded this song at Black Bay Studios on the Isle of Lewis and it’s a transition track of sorts (in that members of Dante and the Crows played on it),” says Seán McLaughlin.

“It was such a beautiful place to record music and that really affected how we approached the process…. everyone in the room playing together, like they did in the early days of studio recording. It has its rough edges but we love that sound.”
