Glasgow act Quiche release a new single ‘Rat Habits’, as a stream or download.
From the same stable as, among others, The Strange Blue Dreams and Awkward Family Portraits, the band – Juan Laforet, Jack Borrill, Jamie McAuley, Tommo Miller and Ally Stirrat – spent much of 2019 playing live shows, at XpoNorth, Belladrum Tartan Heart, Eden Festival and Tenement Trail, and a UK tour supporting Catholic Action.
They then teamed up with the latter’s frontman, Chris McCrory, who produced their ‘Cardboard Sunset’ EP for First Run Records including the first single from it, ‘Grey Matter‘, launched at King Tut’s New Year Revolution.
‘Rat Habits’ is again recorded with McCrory, at Chem19 / Shady Lane studios, and bassist and songwriter Jack Borril said of the new single: “Rat Habits is a song I wrote during a prolonged period of self-loathing. The lyrics reflect on self-destructive patterns of spending all of your money, using narcotics and a bad relationship.
“These are juxtaposed by the rather jovial melody through which the lyrics are delivered,” he adds, “sort of inspired by the twisted irony of the old-timey music heard in the Fallout video game series.”
