Probably Finlay releases a new single, ‘The Unquiet Grave’.

Self-released, the follow-up to January’s ‘Callow Mind‘ is available to download or stream.

Inspired by an old folk story about a boy waiting at the grave of his slain young love, the track is the work of Finlay Mayers Porras – an 18-year-old half Scottish/Costa Rican singer-songwriter.

However, the Edinburgh-based musician – primarily a drummer, and set to study jazz at RCS – has taken a “big step up compositionally” on the track, employing a range of orchestral musicians.

“I usually play everything myself but I wanted to include more string and brass arrangements,” he says, “so I enlisted the help of my aunt who plays cello, and a couple of friends that are very talented young violin and trumpet players.

“It means that this release has been a real international collaboration, as well as a very intimate one”.
