The Pictish Trail releases a new single ‘Turning Back’.
Available digitally at fire-records.lnk.to/PT_TurningBack, it comes from forthcoming album ‘Thumb World‘, due out on February 21st on Fire Records.
Lynch describes the Rob Jones-produced single as “Probably the most deliberately ‘pop’ moment on the album… about replaying the moment you meet someone and wanting to live it over and over again.”
“There’s a refrain – ‘Hours turning back / I was turning back’ – imagining the clock hands spinning backwards, at the end of Daylight-Saving Time. In a sort of Black Mirror-esque tribute, the reveal is that the other person is also controlling the moment, rewinding and rewatching.”
Four years in the making, ‘Thumb World’ will be the follow-up to Pictish Trail’s Scottish Album of the Year Award public vote winner ‘Future Echoes’.
Next live show in Scotland is at St Luke’s in Glasgow on Friday, January 17 as part of Celtic Connections, together with Lost Map alumnus Rozi Plain.
