A collaborative folk single has been released to mark the centenary of World War I, with all proceeds going to Scottish veterans’ charity Erskine.
‘Our Heroes’ is written by musician Gary Innes of Scottish folk rockers Mànran, is released as a download in aid of Erskine’s five care homes in Scotland.
The single features members of Mànran, Treacherous Orchestra, Skerryvore, Rura and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers as well as Phil Cunningham, Julie Fowlis, Duncan Chisholm, Scott Wood, Siobhan Miller, piper Duncan MacGillivray, and a cameo appearance from Gary’s father, Hughie Innes. And reciting passages from a World War I poem written by Sir Owen Seaman is late night Radio Scotland DJ Iain Anderson.
‘Our Heroes’ is available from all major music download sites.
