Olivia Rafferty releases her debut single ‘When You Walk In’.
Available to stream or download, the song was created remotely with collaborators during lockdown, she describes the new track as “a mix of bedroom pop and folk, with Casio drumbeats and acoustic guitars.”
“I’ve been working on a separate EP over the last few months which has been very folky and melancholy,” Rafferty continues, “but quarantine interrupted that process. It also reminded me that making music doesn’t always have to be perfect or serious to be good. And I think ‘When You Walk In’ is a result of that attitude.”
She also speaks of her surname – her granddad’s cousin was songwriter Gerry Rafferty – “close enough to the family that (Olivia) felt a connection, but removed enough that she never got to meet him.”
Hailing originally from Aberdeen, the London-based singer-songwriter has spent years gigging in Edinburgh, Toronto and London, and released an EP during lockdown.
