As Celtic Conections tails off, there’s still time for a few last shows – take Mogwai for example, at the Royal Concert Hall on Tuesday, with RM Hubbert in tow.
And on Wednesday, Lloyd Cole and the Com… sorry, The Leopards, the Ceeeping Bent stalwarts now acting as his backing band for an 02 ABC show.
On Thursday, The Wave Pictures are at Mono in Glasgow, and at Edinburgh’s Wee Red Bar the night after.
Also on Friday, 31st, Adam Stafford co-headlines with Andrea Marini & his band at the Glad Cafe for a Scottish Green Party. Sonny Carntyne is also on the bill. (There’s another similar show on March 7th with Alan Bissett)
In the centre of Glasgow, more Celtic Connections shows – Lau are at the City Halls, Seth Lakeman plays the O2 ABC, Kris Drever is at the Royal Concert Hall, and Rachel Sermanni is at the Bank of Sc… sorry, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery
Up the east coast – King Kurt re-emerge from a 20-odd year hiatus for a show at Dundee’s Beat Generator Live, while down the cast a little, Scots ska kings Roots System play Kirkcaldy’s Windsor Hotel
On Saturday, Sonic Hearts Foundation are at Edinburgh’s Wee Red Bar, with able support from locals Wozniak, and Inuit, who like the headliners are from the Weeg.
More Saturday shows in Glasgow include [Smog]’s Bill Callahan at the O2 ABC, Young Fathers at Stereo, and launching their debut album across the alley, Young Philidelphia play the Old Hairdressers.
Finally for Saturday, a celebration and a wake all rolled into one. Aggi Doom, Palms, Human Hair and Gold Bars launch a split EP, as Aggi Doom play their last ever show, at Glasgow’s CCA. Also on the bill, Fem Bitch Nation, Mellow Drama, Holy Motors, and the aforementioned Palms.
On Sunday in Glasgow, visiting Californians RX Bandits at King Tut’s, Kris Drever at the Royal Concert Hall (again?), while up east, former Bluetone Mark Morris is at Dundee’s Bunker.
And in Edinburgh’s Banshee Labyrinth on Sunday, Soundscapism Vol. 11. as the name suggests, improvised electronics and ambient sounds from WIDT Project and Kamil Kowalczyk & Milk Money
