Modern Studies release a new single, ‘Heavy Water’

It’s taken from the forthcoming album ‘The Weight Of The Sun’, due out 8th May on Fire Records – which wil be available on ‘Sunburst Splatter’ vinyl limited to 300 copies with lyric sheet before reverting to boring old (in appearance, not sound) standard black LP / CD.

The quartet’s third studio LP follows 2016 debut ‘Swell To Great’ and ‘Welcome Strangers’, from 2018.

The foursome – songwriters Emily Scott and Rob St John, with Pete Harvey and Joe Smillie, – largely recorded their new material at Harvey’s home-run Pumpkinfield studio in rural Perthshire,

Of the new material, Scott says: “A lot of life was lived in the last two years. Perhaps we’re showing a rawer, truer connection to things. I feel, and hope, when listening, that the overriding sense is joyful, though.”

“This is an attempt to weave something hopeful from it all,” adds St John.

The band tour in May after the album’s release:
22 May: Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh, UK
23 May: Glad Café, Glasgow, UK
24 May: Some Great Reward Instore, Glasgow, UK
29 May: Tolbooth, Stirling, UK
