Mike Clerk releases a new solo single ‘Thoughts Of Fools’.
Available to stream or download, the track is taken from a forthcoming planned album ‘The Space Between My Ears’ by the former frontman of The Lost Generation.
With material written and self-recorded, the Fife-based guitarist and singer-songwriter started a GoFundMe page in order to gauge interest and fund the release of his first solo single; hitting over £2000 in less than twelve hours.
And from a single Facebook post the fund reached almost £4000, showing a demand for the release of his new material.
“It was getting ridiculous to be honest,” Clerk says of the response. “The demand was more than I expected as I’d been away from the scene for a while, and this was a brand new project I’d done by myself. I’d even had to swap the old van I had for a piano so I could learn it to get the parts down.”
During his time with The Lost Generation, the band played Alan McGee’s Death Disco, Club NME in London, as well as shows in Europe and the US, but after he decided to leave, and “write for the sake of my own sanity”.
Clerk jokes about his new sound: “It’s all turned out a bit Queens of the High Flying Black Rebel Motorcycle Keys to be honest”.
