Memes release a new single ‘Cheer Up’, on Fierce Panda Records.
Available to stream or download, it follows up previous releases ‘J.O.B.S.’, also on Fierce Panda, and on Six Tonnes De Chair, a vinyl 7” EP featuring ‘Blah Blah Blah’, ‘Funny Man’ and ‘Happy Shopper’.
The duo – John McLinden and Paul McLinden – have previously played a Steve Lamacq live session, and in 2020 played shows with labelmates Scrounge, China Bears and Italia ’90, their most recent hometown gig a mid-March support with The Dunts.
Of the new single, the band said: “‘Cheer Up’ is about cancelled gigs, environmental catastrophe and the importance of staying in to watch TV. It’s about heads of states and states of hands.
It’s about lifting the gloom in an atmosphere of doom. It’s about fast food and slow internet. Streaming MP3s at 2MTRs distance. Stay home. Protect the NHS. Cheer Up.”
