Mason Hill have released their debut album ‘Against The Wall’ – and have already broken several records.

Released last week, the 12-track long-player has already reached number 19 in the UK national album chart – the first rock band to debut with their album in the UK Top 20 since Greta Van Fleet in 2018

The Glasgow quintet also took top spot in the UK rock album chart – the first UK debut to do so since Royal Blood and Lonely The Brave in 2014.

The quintet – Scott Taylor (lead vocals), James Bird (lead guitar), Marc Montgomery (guitar), Matthew Ward (bass) and Craig McFetridge (drums) – recorded the album in November 2019 at Riverside Studios in Glasgow.

Singer Scott Taylor later travelled to New York to track his vocals before the release was mixed by Chris Sheldon (Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters).

The album’s success can be attributed to a marketing campaign run by both 7Hz Productions (ADA) and the band, involving a six month fan building initiative utilising social media, streaming performances, virtual ‘in store’ launch events, dark ad audience building and strategic media takeover promotions, leading to reviews and radio plays as well as four Planet Rock playlist additions.

Also, in Germany the band are currently trending in the top 15 German rock airplay charts with their single ‘D.N.A’ as well as top 10 in the Heavy 1 French radio chart.

Taylor says: “The last week has been totally insane. Our fans have been so supportive and to have a top 20 national album on our first release is mind blowing.

“We are extremely humbled at the reception ‘Against The Wall’ has received and needless to say, it has been an extremely bright light for us during this long Covid tunnel.

“It has made us even more hungry to get back out and play live again. Everyone is itching to crank up the volume and blast out the new material”
