Mairi Campbell releases a new single ‘Pull Me Up’, via the Holy Smokes label.
It’s the first track to come from the pioneering folk musician’s latest album ‘Storm’, due in March, and the latest in a series of works with long-time collaborator Dave Gray, who adds electronic sound and production to Campbell’s voice and viola.
Campbell, who initially studied classical viola at the Guildhall School of Music, has since become a significant and prolific figure in Scottish music and the recipient of six Scots Trad Music Awards including the Inspiration Award in 2018.
‘Storm’ also represents the ten metre tall goddess of the sea in puppet form produced by Vision Mechanics to focus on environmental issues, which was seen on streets across Scotland including Glasgow during the 2020 Celtic Connections festival.
