we’re in festival season… Edinburgh Festival, that is. And part of the ‘official’ event takes place on Monday with the first of two sold out (I assume?) Sigur Ros shows at Edinburgh’s Playhouse. Same night, KT Tunstall is at the Macphail Centre in Ullapool, doubtless trailing forthcoming album ‘KIN’. She’s also at Wick’s Assembly Rooms on Friday.

On Tuesday, it’s Roddy Hart ‘s turn to play Edinburgh, at the Queen’s Hall. Speaking of all things Fringe, Dean Friedman is on a run at the Apex in the Grassmarket and Henry Rollins similarly has an extended stay at the Assembly Rooms Otherwise, see our guide.

Wednesday 17th sees one-man soundscape Esperi visit Bar Bloc in Glasgow, while London post-rockers Yossarian play Bannermans.

On Friday, alt rockers Maybe We’re Dead Already are at Montys’s in Dunfermline

Saturday night has hard-to-classify electro combo Outblinker at Aberdeen’s Underdog, while it’s the turn of Adam Stafford o do the festival thing, at Summerhall in Edinburgh.

Friday sees A New International at the O2 ABC2 in Glasgow

But the big event of this week is Doune the Rabbit Hole – three days in sunny Perthshire, with Treacherous Orchestra, Mungo’s Hifi and Col Mustard kicking off proceedings on Friday, an all-star cast the following day including Admiral Fallow, C Duncan, Bombskare, De Rosa and Jo Mango, and on Sunday, Cate Le Bon, Emma Pollock and Hector Bizerk just three of the 80_ acts on display at Cardross Estate.

Finally, our token Dundee show on Sunday night at Dundee’s Clarks on Lindsay Street, the promisingly-named Pugwash.
