Hopefully, in the name of sanity and decent music, the gig of the week will be a celebratory affair that takes place at Glasgow’s Grand Ol Opry on Wednesday 7th – the night after the Mercury Music Prize winner has been announced. King Creosote & Jon Hopkins have made an album that’s a Diamond (Mine) in a pile of what’s largely poo, so fingers crossed that it’s a party and not a wake.
(Actually, their chances are probably pretty slim, but should be a good gig anyway. Ahem.)
To the weekend then, and another Electric Frog weekend, on Saturday / Sunday, 10/11th, at SWG3.
Saturday’s the dance day, with Jeff Mills, Derrick May and Frankie Knuckles heading up a very impressive bill, if you like that kind of thing.
Sunday is the indie-ish day and the names are just as big in that sphere – Mogwai, The Fall, Wild Beasts, Mount Kimbie, The Orb, Organs Of Love, The Field and Errors, all playing full live performances. Frankly, you don’t need us to advise you to go along to that, so we’ll instead tell you that ticket info can be found at theelectricfrog.co.uk.
