Kinbote releases a single ‘(On A String)’.

Part of Lost Map’s monthly PostMap Club subscription service, it includes an exclusive bonus alternate version, and follows the single ‘Hiemalis’, recently heard, among other places, on BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq show.

The track is taken from forthcoming debut album ‘Shifting Distance’, due for release as a limited edition CD-R and via digital services on December 4th, and as well as part of the Postmap Club, is available to download or stream.

Kinbote is the alias of Glasgow-based Matt Gibb – previously based in Aberdeen and a member of the now-defunct arts collective Re-Analogue, he released a Garageband-recorded EP every year since 2015.

he describes ‘(On A String)’ as being about “a specific period of time when I was doing a summer internship and didn’t know anyone and I spent a lot of time in my room watching Westworld.

“There’s a lot of instruments in this song,” he continues, “including lots of broken Yamaha keyboard and a pocket sampler thing I have called a PO-33. It was probably the hardest song to mix on the whole album because there’s so much going on.”

Single and album were recorded wit the same setup as before: “a microphone, my laptop and a broken Yamaha keyboard I got from a charity shop.”
