Jim McAteer releases a double-A-side single, ‘The Everything Thing’ / ‘Monsieur Shambolique Meets Master Misery’, via Sonic Bull / Fox Star Records.
It follows up single ‘In Love With Every Atom’ and its parent album, ‘Here Be Dragons‘, from July 2020.
While ‘The Everything Thing’ also comes from his debut long-player, ‘Monsieur Shambolique’ is a new composition, of which his label says: “When we say ‘new song’… we mean a song that Jim has been writing for many years and finally finished under lockdown.”
The Glasgow-based songwriter plans to record the track with a full band once it is possible to do so, presumably following the pattern of the flipside and the album from which it comes, which included guest appearances from Flore De Hoog, Leïla Forissier, Gerry Lyons, and Mark Rafferty, while additional musicians chip in – Caroline Hussey on accordion, Jim McGrath playing mandolin and guitar, and Ali Hendry on trumpet.
The Glasgow-based songwriter is a stalwart of the local music scene, with friends and fellow musicians including members of Belle and Sebastian, BMX Bandits and Trembling Bells persuading McAteer to make the jump from open mics to finally recording his songs.
