James Yorkston is to publish a new book, entitled ‘The High And Lonesome Blues of Tommy The Bruce’.

It’s the third book by the Fife-based singer-songwriter and Domino Records recording artist, and is to be published via the Unbound crowdfunding platform.

The new novel – Yorkston’s second following 2016’s ‘Three Craws – is the singer’s third foray into literature, his debut being ‘The Touring Diaries of a Scottish Gent, which came out in 2011.

The book is available for pre-order now and supporters can pledge anywhere between £10 to £750 and more, to receive either a digital or hard copy of the book, together with additional perks ranging from limited edition drawings and screenprints by the author to a bottle of rare whisky. All supporters will see their name printed in every edition of the book.

The plot concerns the titular character, who is (we’re told) washed-up and marooned in a ramshackle hotel he inherited from his parents in the wilds of North Perthshire. Lonely and debt-ridden, he’s drinking away what’s left of his business’s diminishing profits until one Fiona McLean shows up. This new love interest seems to be the answer to Tommy’s prayers, until…
