Iklan release ‘Album Number 2’, via the Soulpunk label.
As its title suggests, it’s the second album release from the band / collective, based variously in Edinburgh, Birmingham, and London.
The follow-up (somewhat inevitably) to ‘Album Number 1‘, the ten tracks are available to download, as well as on CD.
Formed in 2016, Iklan (meaning ‘advert’ in Indonesian) was formed by Tim London (aka Tim Brinkhurst), the MErcury and SAY Award-winning ex-manager and producer of Young Fathers.
London was also a member of the pop group Soho – who most famously had a 1990 hit with Smiths-sampling single ‘Hippychick’ – as were his Iklan bandmates Jacqui and Pauline Cuff, aka The Leith Congregational Choir.
Also part of the collective are vocalist Law Holt, a regular live vocalist with Young Fathers, who sings lead on half of the album’s tracks, while Cheng Cheng and Fabio D’Agostino also contribute vocals to the new long-player.
