Holly Tomas releases a single, ‘The Maiden’s Vow’.

The track was originally written more than 200 years ago by Carolina Oliphant/Nairn – a songwriter who was a contemporary of Robert Borns, and also responsible for more familiar tunes such as ‘Will Ye No’ Come Back Again?’ and ‘Charlie Is My Darling’.

Speaking of the project, Tomas said: “Back in 2000 I sang ‘Ye Banks and Braes’ on the STV Burns Night Special. A video of this was subsequently posted on YouTube where, to date, it’s had over 300K views.”

“A number of people have left kindly left comments asking whether I’d be recording more traditional material, which is why I’ve now (finally) embarked on this Project.

“For me, the natural place to start was with Carolina (Oliphant) Nairn. As a contemporary of Burns’, I was surprised how little I knew about her. It seems her songs are sometimes attributed to Burns, or her words put to his melodies.”

At Tomas’ Patreon page, $5 per month will allow subscribers to download the release and future recordings ahead of their release date.
