Happy Spendy release a new single, ‘Feelings 2’, via all major digital services including Spotify

The Glasgow-based band were founded by Derry’s Eimear Coyle, with local friends Rosie Pearse, Siobhain Ma, Connell King and Kieran Coyle. They then self-released debut EP ‘You Look Lovely’ in 2017 and follow-up ‘Take Care of Yourself’ in 2018.

The new tune acts as a trailer for Happy Spendy’s forthcoming new five-track EP ‘Ready When You Are’, due out on February 28, ahead of a compilation album in the spring gathering together all three of the band’s EPs to date.

“‘Feelings 2’ is a song I wrote reflecting over the past couple of years since my dad died,” Coyle said of the new track. “We were truly best pals and I think about him all the time. This song is about how my feelings have progressed and changed since it happened; I’ve found happiness in so many places but the grief never leaves.

“I like writing sad lyrics to help me through my feelings (or two),” she added, “but as an otherwise cheery person I enjoy the juxtaposition of disguising my sad songs behind fun melodies and keyboard sounds and performing them on stage with all my best pals has been the perfect way for me to celebrate my dad and keep my head up.”

The band launch the track on Friday 31st January at Stereo, supporting fellow Lost Map act Romeo Taylor, who also provides a happy hardcore remix.
