I’ll not lie to you, the gig guide is looking pretty quiet this week.
This weekend, however, sees things hot up a bit…

Halo Tora are at King Tut’s on Friday 15th – part of the annual New Year’s Revolution at the Glasgow venue.
Also in Glasgow, Dave Arcari is at St Andrews in the Square on Friday, and Alasdair Roberts plays The World’s Room (what/wherever that may be).
And in Edinburgh, Jamie & Shoony have a show at Studio 24.

On Saturday night in Castle Douglas (a phrase you thought you’d never hear) James Yorkston plays The CatStrand
It’s Celtic Connections time now of course, and the winter festival is firmly established as a place to hear decidedly non-traditional music. Errors – at the 02 ABC on Saturday – are a pretty good example of that ‘genre’.
Also a CC show, apparently, is the comeback from De Rosa, launching new album ‘Weem’ at the Hug & Pint. Stop by early and have some Herald-approved vegan scran.
In Aberdeen on Saturday, Lola in Slacks are at the Lemon Tree.
And in Edinburgh, it’s the New Fabian Society at Henry’s.

Surprisingly busy on Sunday night – Snide Rhythms are at Edinburgh Paradise Palms (also a food establishment it seems, close to the Festival Theatre on the Bridges).
In Glasgow it’s another couple of Celtic Connections shows – Siobahn Wilson‘s at the Fallen Angels Club @ St Andrews in the Square Sun
And Alasdair Roberts is at Oran Mor.
