Reports of the death of Edinburgh’s music scene have long since bandied about, but there’s something stirring at Summerhall.

Although oddly enough, there are gigs elsewhere too in the city – on Wednesday 6th Halfrican are at Paradise Palms, wherever that is (1982, probably).
In Glasgow on Wednesday, Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo are at the Glad Cafe, doubtless plugging forthcoming album ‘Pigs in the Bullring’.

Thursday provides the first evidence of something stirring in Reekie.
Randolphs’s Leap and Book Group play Summerhall, while antifolk legend Lach is at Woodland Creatures. And Golden Teacher are at another new(ish, kinda) venue, The Mash House

Oh, would that Dundee had a busy music scene, but they do at least get The Shithawks on Friday 8th at the Westport.
Back in Embra, Happyness arrive at Sneaky Pete’s, Quiet As A Mouse plug their EP ‘Memorybox’ with a gig at The Wee Red Bar, and back again at Summerhall are (is?) Woodpigeon plus Withered Hand.

Friday is Glasgow’s musical pileup as well, with a varied roster – Average White Band play the O2 ABC, Halo Tora are at Broadcast, The Just Joans visit McNeill’s Sports Bar, and Withered Hand makes an intrepid trip west for a show at Nice’n’Sleazy.
Doon the waater (er, that’s not quite right), former Hipsway frontman Grahame Skinner is at Irvine Harbour Arts Centre,

Saturday is all about Embra – ok, apart from Min Diesel, at The Carlton in Aberdeen.
Southern Tenant Folk Union, Hammer Horror pop screamer Lene Lovich plays the Voodoo Rooms, and Summerhall hosts a Scottish Women’s Aid benefit with the likes of TeenCanteen, Broken Records, Machines In Heaven, Eugene Kelly, The Spook School, Solareye and Henry & Fleetwood.

On Sunday, still a few shows worthy of your full and rapt attention – Adam Stafford, with new single ‘Athiest Money’ is at Summerhall alongside Khartoum Heroes, starring King Creosote, and ‘hotly-tipped” C. Duncan.
And The Pop Group are at Glasgow’s CCA, while Withered Hand hits the north – landing at Aberdeen Lemon Tree.
