Hadda Be release a new single, entitled ‘Wait in the Dark’ , via Last Night From Glasgow.
The quartet – Amber, Ben, Matthew and Oliver – were previously known as Foundlings and were the Glasgow-based label’s first signing from south of the border, releasing their self-titled five track debut EP in March 2019.
Foundlings formed in 2018, between their joint hometowns of South London and Brighton, and released two singles, ‘Misery’ and ‘Horizon’, which received airplay on BBC 6 Music and Radio X.
In 2020, with the departure of the band’s original bass player, the quartet changed their name to Hadda Be – after the Allen Ginsberg poem ‘Hadda Be Playing on the Radio’.
‘Wait in the Dark’ follows the February release of the title track from the band’s forthcoming debut album, ‘Another Life’, which was recorded in five days at Brighton Road Studios inbetween the two national lockdowns.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown restrictions, the recording of the album was delayed twice and when the band made it into the studio the songs were mostly recorded live, with occasional overdubs.
“By the time we finally managed to get into the studio, we had the songs down to an extent that we recorded most of them in only a few takes,” the band said.
