Strata release a single, ‘Eudaimonia’, on Gearbox Records.

It’s the next in a series of trailer singles including ‘Lyra‘, from June last year.

The track is taken from ‘Second Lives’, the follow-up to 2019’s debut long-player ‘Obelisk’, due out on Friday May 5th on Gearbox Records on vinyl. The single is now available to download via Bandcamp, or via less reputable sources.

Fronted by bandleader, composer, and drummer Graham Costello, the Glasgow-based ensemble play as a quartet and sextet, and include on piano Fergus McCreadie, whose solo album was just released on Edition Recorda, 2018’s Young Scottish Jazz Musician Of The Year Joe Williamson on guitar, and Mark Hendry on electric bass. Also involved on the latest full-complement release are trombonist Liam Shortall, who also leads jazz collective corto.alto; and saxophonist Harry Weir who also leads AKU!.

The album was recorded straight to tape last summer at RAK Studios with co-producer and engineer Hugh Padgham, mixed at British Grove, and subsequently mastered in-house at Gearbox.

The band have previously appeared at Oslo and Firenze Jazz Festivals, and in 2020 were set to appear at Love Supreme Festival, Novara Jazz, and Montreux Jazz Festivals, as well as tour the UK for the first time.
